Spain Day Four

Madrid Itinerary:

8:00am Templo de Debod

9:00am Museo de Traje

10:00am Plaza de Toros de las Ventas Tour

12:00pm Lunch

2:00pm  Museo de Romanticism

4:00pm Sunset Rooftop Tour

We started early with a long walk along both new and familiar streets to the Temple de Debod, an Egyptian temple donated to Spain after their assistance protecting monuments during flooding in the 1960s.

Then we took a VERY long walk on to the Museo de Traje to see Spain’s fashion through the ages.

After our visit, we caught the subway to the Bullfighting museum and enjoyed a picnic outside on the benches before taking a grand tour. We learned a lot I never knew about the sport/art/cruelty (whatever you call it depending on your viewpoint).

We had some time to spare before a sunset rooftop walking tour, so we attempted to see the Madrid History Museum, but they were closed for siesta… So instead we visited the nearby Museo de Romanticism to see what a home during the reign of Isabel II looked like.

Next we hurried to meet our tour guide for a so-so “sunset” “rooftop” tour where we walked along crowded streets we’d already visited not quite making it to a rooftop for a sunset (not terrible but an incredibly missable Madrid experience).

We departed the tour early for some much needed tostas, wine, and sitting then returned to the flat only stopping to buy some wine for tonight and Cava (champagne) for tomorrow night!
