We ate a leisurely breakfast in our flat before heading out for our day’s activities.
First, we walked to the Puerta Del Sol to begin a Rick Steve’s walk around the historic old town. On our walk, the highlights included the Plaza Mayor, the Mercado de San Miguel, the Monastery of Corpus Christie, Plaza de la Villa, Almudena Cathedral, the Royal Palace of Madrid, Plaza de Oriente, Teatro Real, and the Casita Museo de Raton Perez.
That sounds like a lot, but our favorite bits were almost buying cookies from a secret nun door, climbing to the cupola at the cathedral, and stopping for churros con chocolate at the Chocolateria San Gines!
After the walk, we headed down the Gran Via (Madrid’s Fifth Ave) before catching the subway back to the flat to rest up before a flamenco dance lesson, drink, and show at Torres Bermejas Tablao.
The show was fabulous… But made for a late night and now we’re exhausted and ready for sleep!
