Spain Day Two

Madrid Itinerary:

8:30am Pick Up Madrid Cards at Atocha Station

10:00am Reina Sofia Museum

12:00pm Lunch/Meet at Flat/El Rastro Flea Market

1:00pm Prado Museum

3:00pm Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum

5:00pm Eat Dinner near Puerta de Alcala and view sunset from Palacio de Cibeles

Our first stop was a visit to Atocha train station to pick up Madrid Cards, one ticket to most of the city’s museums and sights, before having tortilla espanola and coffee for breakfast in a little cafeteria down the street from our hotel.

After breakfast, we visited Sofia Reina, museum of modern art, to open. The museum was amazing, filled with Dali, Picasso, Gris, and Miro.

After what seemed like a quick perusal, we returned to our hotel to check out and move our luggage to the rental flat we’ll stay in the next few days.

It is Sunday and the weekly El Rastro flea market was on, so we decided to jump in it for a little while before eating lunch.

After lunch, we headed for El Prado, one of the world’s finest museums (no photography allowed) to see major Renaissance works and Spanish masters like Velásquez and Goya.

Next we headed towards the Palacio de Cibeles for their observation deck’s 360 degree views for sunset, but just missed it and decided to return another day… Instead, we ambled down side streets back to the grocery near our flat to get food for the next few days.

Back at the flat, we enjoyed a bottle of wine and reflected on our day before setting off for dinner.

Little Reuben A Stugart is always in charge of choosing restaurants, and he led us to a wonderful tapas bar for cervezas and tostas! What a wonderful day… Now for sleep .
