11:30am Majorelle Garden
4:00pm Shop/Eat in the Djemma El Fna
We slept in and enjoyed a wonderful rooftop breakfast at our Riad. After so much eating, we decided we’d better walk!
So we headed north of town on foot to the Majorelle Jardin to enjoy the local botanical garden.
We then ventured back towards the Medina to find and visit the Musee de Marrakech and the Bin Yousef Medersa, a historic Quranic school turned museum, for a bit of history.
Next we turned our eye to shopping since it’s our last day in the city. Our first purchases included several spices to bring back for sharing from an informed spice dealer. We also bought a hand made set of dice from a man kind enough to demonstrate how he makes chess pieces with his feet. Additionally, we’ve had our eyes on leather bags since our arrival…but were anxious because we knew it would take some real haggling skills! We had a rough start, but eventually were able to “Berber” our way into a great deal with a new friend!
After dropping our purchases off at our riad, we went out for a terrace dinner at the “big square” (djemma el fna) for a three course meal of tabbouli, lamb tagine, and crepes with honey. Merry Xmas in advance! Tomorrow we head to the desert and will likely not have WiFi for a couple of days!
